YELLOW FAMILY is an open group of musicians, dancers, designers and other artists, who have decided to spread about positive vibrations, cooperate on various projects and organize cultural events.
It started in the year 2000 when Lena a Bara had met. Finally, four years later, they shielded their visions and ideas with the name Yellow Family. Their initiative gave birth to the following projects: Yellow Family Band, Czech-Gambian Connection project and former street art trio Yellow Sisters, which led to the foundation of a quartet of the same name.
The name Yellow Family comes from a symbolic language of The Mayan Oracle. Mayas, according to their numerological charts differentiate 4 color groups. When Lena started to study dates of birth of her friends and fellow-artists, she found out that most of them are in the yellow specter and she started to form the yellow family.

YELLOW FAMILY band was the first Yellow Family project that performed in 2004-2005. Ten personalities of the Prague music scene connected there to put together jazz feelings of the musicians and means of expression of the pop-soul singers. They released a four song limited edition CD.
Yellow Family Band followed the project Fullharmoniq, which originated in cooperation of Lena (vocal), Karel Herman (keyboard) and Adam Bezdek (computer sound).Their songs should have been arranged electronically, but eventually they decided to put together the band and make it live. So in 2003 they invited musicians - Rasto Uhrik (bass) and Dano Soltys (drums) - for joint work.
In January 2004 Lena left for Africa with the group of dancers. The energy discovered in Gambia was transformed into a band extension of other 6 members -singers Bara Vaculikova and Marketa Foukalova, a saxophone player Marcel Barta, a trumpet player Oskar Török, a guitarist Jirka Simek and a flute player Katy Karasova.

Street art trio YELLOW SISTERS took off in 2004 and had several faces since then. In summer 2004 Lena and Bara, alongside a dancer Evicka Hlinkova went to Berlin and for the first time performed there on the street an Africa-inspired programme. In winter a mission Madrid - Las Palmas - The Gambia was born. This enterprise to make money on the street for a trip to the West African Gambia supported Lucie Liška Klímová as a part of the trio. The three-month journey continued with a working holiday in Rome in May 2005. The last singer, who took part in the street art project in summer 2007, was Zuzana Burdejova.
followed the mission Madrid - Las Palmas - The Gambia. In june and july 2005 Yellow Sisters invited to the Czech Republic two singers - Brother Coms and Ranking Fire and DJ Taf. In Africa they put together their repertoires and new songs, which they later performed at several Czech music festivals and Prague clubs. A new band was formed especially for this occasion. Roman Vicha, Jiri Simek, Jana Bidrmanova, Rasto Uhrik, Milos Dvoracek and Marcel Barta took part. In frames of this project appeared a newly reformed Yellow Sisters quartet with Lucie Hawa Goldin and Toni Nyass.
DUO YELLOW SISTERS - Bara, Lena & singer and DJ ADMIRAL KOLIBAL linked up in 2005 and since then have created and performed occasionally. Their first record was a version on Rodeo riddim called Peace.

YELLOW SISTERS band is a vocal quartet where Lena and Bara joined together with Lucie Hawa Goldin and Antonia Nyass and created new songs that are an extraordinary synthesis of harmony, rhythm, poetry and their common inspiration. They float lightly between styles: jazz, soul, funk, RnB, reggae and world music...... First repertoire that emerged in 2005 was released on Singalana album /Indies Records, 2006/. The CD lounge was recorded and released on the DVD Yellow Sisters Live in Retro Music Hall /D.I.Y., 2007/.
Lately Yellow Sisters have been preparing a new album and singing in concerts around the Czech Republic and abroad. They also started to cooperate with several musicians and take part in a contemporary dance project Shreds of Life where Aya Rezaninova created choreography to their music.
